Mim tea estate was established in 1800. There is an interesting story behind the naming of this tea garden. The name Mim tea estate is derived from the word "Mem" referring locally to the British lady as "Mem Saheb" . The tea garden was owned by a British lady and the local people in that region used call the garden as "Mem ko Kaman" which translates in English as the garden owned by the British lady.
